The best places to learn English in England

What is the best place to learn English?

If your goal is to only learn enough English to work in a job where you don’t have to say much, you may get by with an online course and/or speaking to people on a daily basis. However, if your goal is to go to university, or work in a position where you must speak acceptable English all the time, then you will need something more intense. First, it is very important remember that if you are going to the UK to study English at a school or university, than you must be sponsored by the school you are going to; and any school that is to sponsor international students must be licensed by the UK Border Agency in order for you to have the necessary points under Tier 4 for a student visa. Having said that, there are many schools in the UK where you can learn English, and many university programmes that have learning English as a second language as a part of their available courses. When you research possible schools and courses on the internet, keep several things in mind.

Where do you want to live? In a large or a small city? Do you prefer a large university or a small college? Is your family going to be with you, and will they need a proper place to live, work or go to school while you are studying English , or will you be alone, with more freedom to live and move around where you want to. You must also consider the cost of living in the town or city where you want to go to school, and if financial help is available if you need it. If you are able to, visit London and go around to see some of the schools that you are considering. Talk to people who have learned English in the UK and find out what their experiences were. Another way to evaluate a school is to see where their graduates are working after they complete their studies. If people who graduated from that school are working places and doing things with their English skills that you would like to work at and do, then it is a school you might want to consider going to.
